Sports Report - Netball Results

Just a quick (maybe not) email to let you know how the netballers have fared this week.

Yesterday the year 8 and 10 travelled to Blake for their second tournament of the season.

We arrived at the same time as Haygrove so were put on against them first.

The year 8's struggled from the off as Haygrove scored continuously against them. We made the odd interception, but Haygrove dominated throughout the game and every goal they shot went through the net, we didn't stand a chance and Haygrove denied us scoring a single goal.

Their second game saw BCA in the same zone as Haygrove, determined to keep the ball away from us. We managed to score 2 goals against them but not enough to get close.

Year 10, unfortunately had much the same start as the year 8's against Haygrove. they scored a few quick goals which put us off our stride. However, we made several interceptions midcourt and took the ball into our shooting circle, accurate scoring saw us score 3, but again Haygrove didn't seem to miss and beat us quite convincingly.

Our game against BCA was much more dramatic as we led 5-2 at half time, our shooting was much more accurate and we had more chances. The second half saw BCA pull back and the last 4 goals were scored in the last 2 minutes of the game. We missed a shot and BCA took the ball efficiently to their end scored seconds before the final whistle. We lost 8-7. But a great effort from the girls.

Year 10's 3rd game was against Blake. This game was close too, keeping up with each other almost goal for goal. The girls worked hard but Blake managed to squeeze out 3 more goals than us.

2 hyperactive year 7 netball teams travelled to Blake for their second tournament of the season. Their spirits weren't dampened by the rain that had threatened all day which started just as we got there.

The yellow team played BCA first. Only 3 goals were scored throughout the whole game, the ball travelled end to end with interceptions being made by both teams and turnovers in the shooting circle. The girls worked tirelessly but lost 2-1.

Next saw us play against King Alfs. We dominated from the start with excellent passing down the court, fantastic defence and accurate shooting. We won 6-2.

The reds played Blake first, again, a low scoring game in which they prevented us from getting the ball into the shooting circle on many occasions. Chilton kept working hard to dodge and mark their opposition but Blake scored 3 against us.

The Reds game against BCA wasn't so close, although we stole the ball from them on many occasions BCA prevented us from getting the ball into the circle to score. They turned their possession into goals and beat us 7-0.

Both lovely teams enjoyed themselves and we left looking like 15 drowned cats. It didn't stop them singing all the way back like they were on Yr 7 camp, I told them it was good practice😊
