Sports Report - Netball fixture
The year 7 and 9 netball teams went away to BCA tonight to play in the Baltic temperatures.
Despite the temperature, and numbness of fingers, the year 7 girls went out positive from the start. With an 8 strong squad, the girls were confident and determined.
First up we played BCA. Paige dominated the centre of the court from the start, with the ball only travelling down one end of the court. Ava and Alyssa scored a couple of early goals to boost our confidence further. It soon became apparent that we were much more rehearsed and drilled in comparison to BCA, with very few unprompted mistakes on our part. By the end of the first half we were winning 7-0 and poor Olivia as GK hadn’t had much to do due to our domination of the game. The cold weather made is unpleasant for those not moving, so we shuffled things around and have others a chance to be not active. Freya went in to shoot, following in the footsteps of Alyssa and with further support from Ava, we netted a few more. The game continued in a similar fashion (one sided) and the girls came away with a fantastic 14-0 win.
Next up we played King Alfred’s. Again we moved positions to allow everyone to keep warm as this game followed suit with our girls leading the way. Their skill level stood head and shoulders above their opposition and individual control of footwork was exemplary; particularly from Ava, Grace and Maddy. The girls showed excellent teamwork and confidence in their approach, and superb sportsmanship; they supported the opposition in their lack of knowledge of some of the rules and encouraged as well. They came away with an 8-0 win.
The years 7s were an absolute delight to spend the time with, represent Chilton with pride. They were a pleasure and I look forward to their next maths.
