Sports Report - Sedgemoor Area Final
On a windy evening the Year 10/11 girls football team took on BCA in the Sedgemoor Area final knowing they were up against strong opponents. Led by the hard working Mia Austin the game started well as Hannah Rossiter, Jess Brind and Georgie Reynolds defended well. Nadine Nkala was a star in midfield showing tremendous determination in the tackle and running well with the ball at all times. Chilton nearly took the lead when Megan Taylor shot over the bar from close range. This spurred BCA into action and just before half-time they scored two quick goals to take a 2-0 lead at the interval.
The 2nd half saw Chilton show true grit and determination against physically imposing and talented opposition. Mia Austin, Megan Taylor and Nadine Nkala continued to run all over the pitch in their quest for a goal. Jade Leader playing as a striker was unlucky not to score when she shot just wide with a left foot shot. Jasmine Granter in goal kept Chilton in the game with good handling and bravery to deny the BCA strikers. Despite a lot of hard work Chilton couldn't get the goal their efforts deserved and with the last kick of the game BCA broke clear to make the final score 3-0.
The whole squad can be proud of their efforts against very good opposition in horrible conditions. Most of the squad will be looking to bounce back next year and make the final again. Player of the match was shared by Mia Austin and Nadine Nkala for their energetic performances.
