Sports Report - U13 Boys Cricket
Last night the U13 cricket team entertained KAS and Haygrove in the first round of the county cup. After choosing to bowl first (with a man less due to illness and an absent kit) against the much fancied Haygrove, the boys bowled very well and took 3 early wickets. Eventually Haygrove finished on 56-3 from their 7 overs. The boys were more than happy with that at the halfway stage.
Harrison Hambly opened up the batting with Nathan Howes and both ran brilliantly between the wickets and Harrison was particularly classy in retiring to 23 not out. This left the batters requiring 25 from 15 balls. Eventually this went to 12 off the last over. With some wides, some dot balls and a wicket it was two to win off the last ball and one to tie. Olly Harvey knocked it to the leg side to seal a dramatic tie. A superb result against Haygrove and with one player less.
It was now all down to who could score the most runs against KAS. Batting first we made 93-1 with Harrison and Nathan both retiring quickly. Well supported by Billy Cresswell and Vince Marsh.
Haygrove managed to score 94 with two balls to spare of their game and therefore cruelly went through on runs scored over the two games.
The boys were brilliant and will be looking for revenge against Haygrove on Tuesday in their league fixture.
