Sports Report - U14 Girls Football
Tonight the U14 girls travelled to Blake to play their first round of local fixtures.
First up was Haygrove and the girls struggled to get going as Haygrove were more aggressive and assertive in and out of possession. In a game of few clear cut chances a draw was a fair result as it finished 0-0.
The second game saw us take on BCA. The girls settled into this game well and started to play some good football, looking to pass to each other and working hard off the ball. This led to BCA not having any shots on Ava Scobie’s goal. Chilton however kept asking questions as Jayla Smith was found by the hard working Paige Taylor and Smith tried to bend the ball to the top corner only for the goalkeeper to make a superb save. Seconds later the keeper lost possession and Smith found an empty net but on the angle smashed the post unfortunately with lovely technique to get it near the goal. It finished a very one sided 0-0.
In the last game we entertained Blake who looked very fast and very good technically. The girls worked even harder in this game and played their best match. Blake has one shot on goal which whistles past the post. Chilton has many chances, Paige Taylor hit the post and fired another an inch wide from a tight angle with the keeper beaten. There were other scrambles and countless corners but again Chilton couldn’t score as it finished 0-0.
The girls really improved and stepped up. Monday will see some shooting practice and remaining calm in front of goal. I have advised them to watch staff football on Friday afternoons for some role models!
