Sports Report - U14 Girls Football
Tonight the u14 girls football side hosted BCA and Haygrove in an 8 a side three way.
First up were Haygrove and the girls forgot how to pass and compete for the ball against a less talented but more functional opposition. With not too many positives (Summer Hellard’s tremendous work rate aside!) the girls lost 3-0.
In the second game we played a tougher and more physical side in BCA and it was pleasing to see the girls compete for more of the 50/50 balls. Chilton imeediately has BCA on the back foot and had a shot cleared off the line that seemed destined to go in. This gave the girls belief and they began to pass the ball around the physical BCA approach. Summer Hellard was once again superb in her endeavour around the pitch, as was Ferne Hill who was denied three times by the keeper in the first half when it seemed as if she would score.
BCA scored after a defensive error allowed a one on one with the rooted to the spot goalkeeper Jodi Head.
At half time with the score 1-0 the girls started the second half well until some more sloppy defending allowed BCA to take a 2 goal lead. But with 6 minutes to go, goal hanger Hill got the ball under control dribbled towards the keeper and slotted away beautifully under pressure from the defenders to set up a dramatic finish. Despite trying their hardest they just came up short in the final throws of the game losing 2-1.
A much improved second match performance against a good side, feedback is king when actually listened to it would seem!
