Sports Report - U14 Girls Futsal
The u14 girls Futsal team travelled to BCA this evening without the powerful Lucy Williams (top assistant coach though) due to a late injury, so the bare 5 had maximum game time throughout.
The first match against Haygrove ended in a 0-0 draw despite us having the majority of possession, we just couldn't score.
In the second game we drew 2-2 against King Alfred's, again dominating the play but this time two lapses in concentration allowed KAS back into the game. Ewalina scored two good goals in the game and Fern and Maddie did not stop running. Grace Lowe also did a great job man marking their striker.
Due to other results the third game became a final against BCA. In the first two minutes Chilton found themselves two goals up playing some fantastic football against a strong BCA side, Maddie with both of the goals. Just before half time two goals in a minute meant that again we had let a lead slip.
In the second half it was fast and furious with both sides fully committed. BCA went two goals up to some uncharacteristic errors. Millie pulled off some great saves throughout this period to keep us in it and with the game now 4-2 with two and half minutes left it looked gone for the girls. However they ran their socks off and kept shooting from all angles, there corners aplenty! With 30 seconds left Fern toe poked home at the back post to make it 4-3. With one last push Ewalina picked up the ball, and hit the only gap there was to beat two defenders and the keeper, to hit the post and score an equaliser with 5 seconds left. Cue hysteria from the bench from coach Butt, assistant coach Mahoney and assistant to the assistant Williams!
So it went to penalties. Fern slotted her penalty in to start us off. BCA put theirs wide. Maddie stepped up next and smashed her penalty in. Millie saved BCA's penalty to make it 2-0. Ewalina as cool as a cucumber slotted in to make it 3-0 before BCA hit the post!
The girls are now Sedgemoor Champions and it was an amazing game. The girls worked so hard and I was very proud of them.
Onto County Finals at Millfield!
