Sports Report - U15 Girls Cricket
Last night I took an inexperienced cricket team to the home of cricket (Bridgwater Cricket Club) for some of them to play their first ever game against the hard ball against a slightly more experienced Haygrove side in preparation for next week’s tournament at Queens College.
Fielding first Chilton did well with Morgan, Morgen and Millie all bowling tight overs, Millie even bowling one girl much to her delight! One run out meant that the score was kept down as we managed to give everyone bar Zuza a bowl (she only agreed to play at lunch with no practice!).
When batting I was pleasantly surprised to see the aggression from the girls (and some very humorous running in batting pads!). Zoe Mizon, Jess Shobbrook, Morgen and Millie Rawle all striking boundaries. Special mention must go to Charlotte Marshall who drew the short straw and faced a quick County bowler. First ball on the thigh and the second on the finger, after a moment to compose herself she faced the next ball and slapped her through the covers for four, a huge show of resilience!
Chilton just lost out mainly due to the wides bowled, promising signs though heading into a busy cricket week, next week. Special mention to Zoe Mizon who kept wicket for the first time with 4 minutes practice and was superb!
