Sports Report - U15 girls cricket

Yesterday the U15 girl cricketers played Wells Blue School and Hayesfield in two softball games.

Batting first against Blue School Chilton hit 57 from their 7 overs mainly from good batting and running between Zoe Mizon and Morgen Palfrey.

In reply the girls bowled tidily against an aggressive Blue School. The game turned as Ava Scobie took a good catch over her head. It was left to Palfrey to bowl the last over with 8 required. It was a very tight over and with 2 needed to tie and 3 to win they could only manage one as the girls kept their composure to run the batter out looking for the second. A tense but superb win.

Next up Grace Lowe lost the Ross again and we batted first against Hayesfield. The girls got off to a good start from Palfrey and Mizon once more running superbly. However a huge blip in the last two overs meant the score went from 35-1 to 37-6!

In reply Chilton took 3 early and important wickets. Then the Hayesfield batters milked the bowlers well and created pressure for the girls. Palfrey was used in the penultimate over and bowled another superb 6 balls before Grace Lowe finished off.  With the scores tied we entered the last ball, It was hit to Palfrey who had a go at the stumps from side on and missed, meaning Hayesfield for their one required from the final ball, a tense loss!

In the last game Wells Blue and Hayesfield tied would you believe. The result means that the girls travel to county finals later in June. It is great to see their hard work paying off!
