Sports Report - Year 10 Boys Rugby
The Year 10 boys travelled to Blake this evening and put in a seasons best performance with a terrific display of handling skills. The game started well and after good play from the forwards L Lemaitre released A Francis to score in the corner. From the restart H Hodge caught the ball and went on 60m run knocking over numerous defenders in the process before flopping over the line carrying two on his back. Chilton continued to apply the pressure as the forwards dominated the ruck and scrum. From a quick turnover L Stockham released the lethal A Francis to score in the corner once again. After good play and keeping the ball under pressure C Brunskill crashed over the line to increase the lead. As half-time approached the other member of the 'famous front 3' Jack Baker received the ball out wide and turned on the gas to scorch away from all defenders to score in the far corner. With one conversion from out wide by L Lemaitre the half time score was 27-0 to Chilton.
The 2nd half was a different game as Blake came flying out and scored two quick trys to reduce the deficit to 15 points. Chilton tackled well with M Langham and L Lemaitre impressing whilst R Henderson and L Stockham linked well in the backs. Blake scored another try to cause Mr Caulfield to lose even more hair from his nervous rubbing action. However the boys stormed into action as after steeling possession from the kick-off H Hodge showed his power to score from close range. Further trys were added by A Francis and the rampaging J Baker to seal an impressive 46-17 victory as R Henderson converted 2 trys.
In an impressive all-round performance R James, T Higgins, O Pike, L Lemaitre and C Frost on debut made impressive contributions whilst man of the match went to the speedy A Francis who tormented the Blake defence all afternoon.
The boys are back in action Thursday with a County Cup game against Kings of Wessex in Cheddar a 2.15pm Ko
