Sports Report - Year 10 Rounders
Tonight we travelled to King Alfreds in Highbridge for our match. The girls practice virtually every lunchtime and are definitely improving their game play.
We started our first match against the hosts as soon as we arrived, choosing to bat first. KAS fielding was pretty tight and we could only squeeze two halves and one whole rounder and one half for 2 no balls from the first 10 balls. The second half saw us hit and run more confidently and we scored another 3 rounders including two sneaky halves through misfielding. total 5.5. We out classed KAS with our close fielding, but only limiting them to 4 big hits, scoring 4 full rounders. WIN!
Game 2 was against BCA. We didn't start too confidently but managed to get a few half rounders interspersed with two full rounders and a donated half for two no balls. Total 5.
Not a massive target, but BCA would still have to work hard. BCA scored 3.5 from 13 balls and it looked like another victory for us. I must have been celebrating (in my head) too soon and with a silly half given away by misfielding our heads weren't on this planet, let alone Highbridge, and BCA scored 3 from the last 3 balls. Loss 7-5.
Game 3 against Haygrove. I don't think the girls' hearts were really in this game after the defeat against BCA. We found it difficult to hit the ball from Haygrove's bowler, despite that, she gave us 2.5 rounders on no balls. We scored two more halves. Total 3.5. Haygrove hit and ran really well, showing us up in the field. We managed to get 3 of their batters out, but to no avail as they scored a total of 9.
A good effort, more game practice needed.
