Sports Report - Year 11 Boys Football
This evening our Year 11 boys football team entertained King Alfred's on a wet and wild evening looking to get their first victory of the season. With a full squad available the boys started well with S Pope and L Wilson going close to scoring the first goal. From a H Hurford free kick O Richardson followed up to side foot home from close range. The lead was short lived as KAS capitalised on a mistake to make it 1-1. Chilton went straight onto the attack and after a fine cross by S Pope to the near post L Wilson finished well. KAS struck back immediately from a free kick as Chilton failed to mark their opposition effectively. Chilton continued to look dangerous in attack and a fine pass from O Richardson saw L Wilson break free and score to make it 3-2. Just before half-time they extended the lead as another good cross this time from O Manchip found S Pope who slotted home from close range to make it 4-2 at the break.
The 2nd half saw the wind get up and Chilton face the elements with J Stephenson and H Carp coming on for J Baker and S Pope. Chilton continued to create chances as J Rollings, O Richardson and L Wilson went close to increasing the lead. L Wilson completed his hat-trick as a K Lewis through ball fell nicely for him to stroke home from the edge of the box. Chilton had to work hard in defence as O Davey, H Hurford and M Hucker battled hard and cleared their lines. O Manchip, J Rollings and H Carp looked dangerous going forward and broke up KAS attacks with their work rate. in the final minute KAS got a consolation goal to make the final score 5-3 to Chilton.
In a good team performance in difficult conditions all the players deserve credit, man of the match went to L Wilson for a tireless display up front.
