Sports Report - Year 11 Boys Football
The Year 11 boys football team traveled to Blake this evening for their first league game of the season. With only 11 regular players available the boys knew they were in for a tough battle. The boys set up and started well and looked to get the ball forward with quick passing and pace. Despite this it was Blake who took the lead when a right wing cross was headed in at the far post. This didn't deter Chilton who continued to push forward with O Richardson and S Pope forcing good saves from the hosts keeper. With defense of J Baker, H Hurford and M Hucker well organised and O Davey sitting deep in midfield they broke up a lot of Blake forward play and set up attacks from deep.
The second half continued in similar fashion as wing backs K Lewis and H Carp pushed forward creating chances for the hard working S Pope and O Manchip. A mixture of the cross bar and fine saves from the Blake keeper kept Chilton at bay as O Manchip and K Lewis looked certain to score. In Midfield O Richardson, J Stephenson and O Davey played some nice football releasing the attackers into space. Despite their best efforts Chilton were unable to get the goal their efforts deserved as Blake ran out 1-0 winners.
The team can be proud of their efforts against a strong Blake side knowing if they continue to play in the same manner they will get their rewards after Christmas.
Man of the match was shared between O Davey and K Lewis who both put in energetic performances.
