Sports Report - Year 11 Boys Football
This evening the Year 11 boys took on last years area winners Haygrove in a must win game if they were to have a chance of qualifying for the final. After a good start that saw A Sampson and T Luke go close with shooting opportunities Haygrove took the lead from the penalty spot after a foul by H Morgan. The boys struck back immediately when a C Frost corner caused havoc leading to R Henderson slotting home with his left foot. With the defence of J Salter, H Huett and H Morgan organised well Chilton continued to dominate as L Lemaitre and R Henderson took control in midfield. The boys took a deserved half-time lead when T Luke was first to react to a Haygrove keeper error as he slammed home to make it 2-1.
With A Francis and A Sampson giving good options on the wings Chilton continued to create chances and they soon scored again as R Henderson popped up in the box to make it 3-1. With Haygrove battling to gain control a fine individual run by B Cooper saw him finish well into the bottom corner to make it 4-1. The introduction of A Kirkpatrick and F Henderson gave Chilton the desired energy lift to see the game out as worthy 4-1 winners. J Legg in goal had little to do as the boys produced a controlled performance full of quality and organisation.
The boys now know that if they beat Blake in 2 weeks time they can seal a finals place.
