Sports Report - Year 11 Boys Football

This evening the Year 11 Boys Football team travelled to BCA looking for a win to keep their recent momentum going. With several players unavailable the boys scrambled together 11 players in the hope of getting a result.

The first half was a close affair with both team cancelling each other out and the defence of H Hurford, J Baker and M Hucker defending well under pressure from their pacey opponents. K Lewis, S Pope and O Richardson combined well in attack and this led to O Richardson hitting the post from a tight angle. Just before half-time BCA took the lead as a long ball evaded the Chilton defence for a striker to slot home.

The second half began well for Chilton and K Lewis went close once again as he saw his strike well saved by the BCA keeper. However poor marking at a corner saw a BCA player react quicker to volley home from close range to double the lead. The midfield of O Davey, J Stephenson and H Carp worked tirelessly to win the ball back as BCA started to dominate possession. BCA went 3-0 when a through ball found a striker in space to beat J Legg at the near post. Chilton never gave up and had a K Lewis goal disallowed for off-side and shot narrowly wide in good positions. The final score was 3-0 to BCA.

In a tough game the boys put in a spirited performance typified by man of the match Josh Stephenson in midfield who never stopped running and making tackles. The boys play Haygrove in early February they must win to keep their final hopes alive.
