Sports Report - Year 11 Boys Football

Tonight the boys entertained a depleted Blake side in what could perhaps be their penultimate match for the school. Pre game it was requested that we matched Blake's numbers and as an act of mutual respect we agreed to a 10 a side game. As a democratic gesture, the boys picked their own formation and this worked well as Chilton started brightly and played some good, aggressive football. The scoring was soon opened by Kieran Dyer who chipped over the keeper on an acute angle. Several chances came and went and Harvey Webber hit the crossbar from 25 yards. It was all very much one way as Chilton poured forward. It was not long before the game was 2-0 as a defender put one beyond his own goalkeeper as Lucas Clark was hounding him in the six yard box. Clark was to get on the scoresheet after several wayward attempts as he placed the ball beyond the keeper with a neat finish with his weaker foot.

Half time 3-0.

In the second half it was decided that substitutions would be made to mix the team up in a bid to keep everyone fresh. This did not stop the scoring although a more route one approach from Blake ensured our defence were busier in the second half. A quick throw in tested my footballing knowledge as Blake complained, but the goal stood as Date tapped in unopposed at the back post.

Ciaran Williams made it 5-0 as he drove forward with a sublime touch and finish after an exquisite ball from Dylan White. Dyer got on the sheet again beating the keeper from 25 yards with a lovely strike. On the stroke of the whistle Williams finished again when finding himself uncharacteristically forward, far from his normal role and produced a neat finish to seal a very comfortable 7-1.

A good win for the boys but a tougher test tomorrow night awaits them away at Haygrove.
