Sports Report - Year 11 Boys Rugby
The Year 11 boys put in a spirited display against a well drilled and physically fit Haygrove side this evening. The first half was an even affair however Haygove's ability to take their chances proved the difference between the two sides. After conceding two tries to good play from our opposition the boys stormed into action camping themselves near the Haygrove line. Harry Hodge, Mitchel Dare and Corey Brunskill all made good runs but were stopped by the organised Haygrove defense. Chilton couldn't capitalise on the pressure and went in at the break 10-0 down.
The 2nd half started in the worst possible way as from the kick-off Haygrove made ground into the Chilton half with ease as the boys lost concentration. From the resulting lineout Haygrove scored a good try in the corner. Chilton once again showed great heart as B Cooper, D De Pina, P Warren, H Huett and J Searle tackled well and ran hard with the ball. Chilton couldn't break the tough Haygrove defense despite giving 100% commitment. With Chilton tiring Haygrove scored two late tries to make the final score 27-0 to Haygrove. The score line certainly flattered the opposition who knew they'd had been in a real battle.
With one game left against Brymore the boys know that they will need a win to make the final after Christmas.
Man of the match went to Mitchel Dare for a fine effort at number 8.
