Sports Report - Year 11 Boys Rugby
The Year 11 boys Rugby team travelled to BCA this evening to play their 2nd fixture of the year looking to put in another good performance after a defeat to Brymore. With a depleted squad due to illness the boys rallied round and got 14 keen lads who were willing to represent the school with pride.
BCA having played several league games this year started well and were dominant at the scrum, ruck and all collisions. Chilton were unable to gain possession and were forced into their own 22 for most of the 1st half. Despite some great tackling from C Saxton, Niko, P Osguthorpe and J Baker BCA ran in three unanswered trys to take a 19-0 half-time lead.
The second half proved a very different affair as Chilton were able to keep possession and turnover ball at the ruck to create running opportunities which in turn led to penalties being awarded in their favour. From stolen ball E Schofield found some space and dived over the line to make the score 19-5. BCA hit back soon after as a player dived over the line from close range to make it 24-5 in their favour. Despite this Chilton kept at it and pushed hard for their 2nd try, however they couldn't find that final pass as the game came to its conclusion.
The boys put in a fine effort in very muddy conditions and can be proud of their efforts this evening. I look forward to seeing them in their next game against Haygrove in two weeks time.
