Sports Report - Year 7 and 8 Boys Cricket

The Year 7/8 boys cricket team hosted Brymore yesterday evening and having lost the toss were asked to bat first. N Howes and W Gorvin started positively running well between the wickets and playing the pull shot well. N Howes got into his groove early and began hitting regular boundaries as he got used to the pace of the pitch. After W Gorvin was dismissed the trend continued as Louis Stokes looked to rotate the strike and get N Howes back on strike. N Howes continued to hit regular boundaries and despite L Stokes being well caught on the boundary runs ticked over well. V Marsh joined N Howes and they batted well together before V Marsh was bowled for a well made 9. N Howes remained unbeaten finishing the innings on 85 not out in an innings that contained 12 fours and 3 sixes.

When Brymore batted all the bowlers had the opportunity to practice. Z Scott (1), J Kerale (1), W Gorvin (1), L Stokes (1), E Gannicott (1) and N Howes (2) all took wickets whilst V Marsh and B Cresswell bowled accurately. The boys fielded well with E Gannicott, B Cresswell (WK) and W Gorvin showing lots of enthusiasm. Brymore reached the grand total of 84 from their 15 overs meaning Chilton wever winners by 41 runs. Man of the match went to N Howes for a fantastic batting display.
