Sports Report - Year 8 Boys Cricket
The Year 8 Boys continued their quest of winning the Sedgemoor cricket league defeating Brymore by 5 wickets in a low scoring encounter. Having won the toss Chilton elected to bowl first and soon had the opposition in trouble as M Hucker and K Lewis both struck in their first overs. L Birch came on and had an instant impact taking 3 wickets in his first over leaving Brymore 6 for 5 after 3 overs. Chilton rotated their bowlers giving O Richardson and A Date their opportunity whilst J Neal bowled well without luck only conceding 7 runs in his 3 overs. Brymore batted sensibly before the introduction of H Hambly and the returning M Hucker ran through the rest of the Brymore leaving them 55 all out off of 14 overs. L Birch (3), M Hucker (3), H Hambly (3) and K Lewis all bowled well.
In reply Chilton got off to a positive start as J Etheredge-Ryan and H Hambly ran well between the wickets. Brymore bowled accurately and in the 4th over both openers were out bowled bringing K Lewis to the crease alongside L Birch. L Birch didn't last long as he was bowled out first ball. M Hucker and K Lewis batted sensibly taking Chilton to 40 for 3 before M Hucker was well caught for 13. K Lewis (15)continued to be patient alongside A Date and they took the score past 50 before A Date was well caught in the outfield. J Neal joined K Lewis and hit the winning single to give Chilton victory with 2 overs remaining.
The boys are now one victory away from the league title now and continue to improve game by game. Man of the match went to K Lewis for a patient innings with the bat.
