Sports Report - Year 8 Boys Football Report
This evening the Year 8 boys travelled to Clevedon School to take part in the 1st round of the Somerset Cup. Having several players out injured the boys changed formation and set about imposing their passing style on a big pitch playing with the slope advantage. From the 1st minute Clevedon dominated midfield and looked to attack with pace. The defence of O Manchip, T Gaugh and J Deane did well to close down the lively home attackers. The boys did well to hold out until half-time at 0-0.
An injury to talisman O Manchip saw him replaced by S Watts and a further change of formation ensued. Chilton conceded within minutes of the kick off however nearly equalised as A Higgins had a shot well saved by the keeper. The busy J White worked hard alongside T Onslow in midfield as Clevedon dominated possession and attacked at will. M Tobin became very busy in goal and conceded two further goals in quick succession. The boys didn't give up and J White and A Higgins had good chances to score but couldn't beat the home keeper. In the last minute Chilton conceded a further goal to make the final score 4-0 to Clevedon.
The boys learnt some valuable lessons and can look forward to their league program in the new year. Man of the match went to J White for a hard working effort throughout.
