Sports Report - Year 8 Boys Rugby
The Year 8 Boys Rugby team travelled to BCA to play their first game of the season and came away with a narrow 20-15 victory after an entertaining encounter. Having gone behind to an early try the boys fought back with J Gingell scoring a fine try after strong running by I James and P Western. Just before half-time BCA took the lead once again to leave Chilton down by 5 at the break.
The 2nd half saw Chilton come flying out the blocks and the scores were soon level as V Marsh used his pace to get on the end of a H Hambly kick to score un-opposed. Chilton started to dominate with their free flowing passing and off load game and were soon ahead as B Cresswell broke free from a I James pass to score in the corner. The boys defended brilliantly with P Western, H Hambly, B Cresswell and J Gingell working tirelessly throughout. With the game in the latter stages a strong run from J Gingell saw them take a two try lead with only minutes remaining. To their credit BCA didn't give up and scored a late consolation to make the final score Chilton 20-15 BCA.
In a good all-round performance B Cresswell won the man of the match award for some brave tackling when the other team looked certain to score.
