Sports Report - Year 8 football vs Blake
Tonight the year 8 boys entertained Blake in their first match of the league.
After an extremely slow start Chilton found themselves 1-0 down inside 5 minutes. It was obvious that Blake’s power and pace was going to be a threat and the boys did not react quickly to this as Blake went 2-0 up from a speculative shot that somehow found its way in. Just before the break Blake made it 3-0 as the ball kindly bounced off the post and into the striker’s path to slot into an empty net.
It was about as bad as it gets!
At half time the boys were obviously disappointed and a few tactical changes nullified the pace threat somewhat. The boys were asked to be sharper with the ball and to look up and pass the ball and to their credit they played much better football in the second half and pulled an early goal back through Isaac Legg. Chances came but the final ball lacked penetration and quality to get through to Ashley Higgins who battled hard without much reward. Despite constant pressure it remained 3-1. A sloppy first half really cost the boys and they will have to work hard in training to be ready for three crunch matches coming up, as will manager Butt who is nought from two this week!
