Sports Report - Year 9 Boys Football
The Year 9 boys travelled to Priory School in Weston this evening for their Somerset Cup last 16 game with the bare 11 due to illnesses and injuries.
The game began at a fast pace with Chilton looking dangerous in attack. It wasn't long before W Stevens and A Higgins got in at goal however last ditch defending and poor shooting prevented the boys taking an early lead. After good play in midfield Chilton took the lead when T Onslow found A Higgins on the right and he powered home a finish. Priory hit back immediately and levelled however the boys went straight on the attack with both W Stevens and T Onslow hitting the post in the same move. Priory also looked good in attack and took the lead with a fine finish on the right. Despite Chilton's pressure they could not score and Priory increased their lead to 3-1 at half-time.
After a good chat at half-time the boys went out for the 2nd half ready for action and reduced the arrears when A Higgins fired home after a good pass from O Manchip. Chilton began to dominate possession however Priory still looked threatening in attack and from a long clearance a Priory striker found space to make it 4-2. The boys kept going and W Stevens put in A Higgins to complete his hat-trick with a cool finish. Despite only 11 players the boys kept going until the end but much to their disappointment they couldn't get the equaliser their efforts deserved.
The boys put in a great effort this evening against a good side and can be proud of their efforts once again. Man of the match went A Higgins for a great effort in attack whilst T Onslow, O Manchip and P Gogolin put in excellent performances.
