Sports Report - Year 9 Boys Rugby
The Year 9 Boys Rugby team entertained Brymore this evening having already secured a finals place against Haygrove. With a few regular players unavailable the boys still had a big squad to pick from.
The game started poorly as from the kick off Brymore made 30+ metres, this trend continued as the scrum failed to function and handling errors occurred at regular intervals. Brymore capitalised from this and ran in two trys as their pacey winger managed to break clear of the Chilton defence.
The second half proved a different affair as A Higgins and Erimas K ran well with the ball whilst K Escott, A Santos and P Gogolin put in great tackling displays. After good pressure A Higgins scored in the corner to reduce the deficit to 12-5. The game continued to be an even affair and Chilton scored next as B Bradley dived over from close range. Brymore replied immediately and increased the lead to 17-10. Both teams played some good running Rugby in tough conditions with Brymore edging a close encounter.
Chilton have the finals night to look forward to after Christmas knowing there is a lot of things to improve if they are to come out victors. However I'm sure that they will bounce back at training next week and gain lots from their first defeat of the year.
