Sports Report - Yr 10/11 girls hockey

The second round of matches saw Chilton play a strong Yr 11 Haygrove team on their home redgra surface first.  It always takes a while to get used to the bouncy, dusty and gritty surface and Haygrove were much more able to cope.  The Haygrove girls were quicker to react, able to hit the ball harder and played at a higher tempo than chilton.  The Haygrove girls soon popped 4/5 goals passed a bewildered defence.  However, the girls showed great strength of character, didn't give up and in the second game against Haygrove yr 10 team looked much more 'ready'.  The defence got into better positions, the attack used their speed to set up a couple of great chances that the Haygrove GK saved.  Olivia in defence alongside Jasmin L, Kiera R and Kristi made some fantastic tackles and Xena showed her growing confidence tackling and clearing wide. A penalty corner though, for Haygrove, led to a goal and soon another bounced agonisingly over a defender's stick leaving the final score another loss at 2-0.

The 3 rd game saw Chilton rise to the challenge. Better speed, use of space and growing belief helped the ball into attack.  Iona joined with Zoe M and Jess S in attack to create all sorts of trouble. however it was KAS who scored first after a hit out by Chilton put the team under pressure.  Chilton used their brains! and almost immediately went to the far end and in a classic amazing hockey style Zoe scored!

Final game 1-1.
