TEXTILES TECHNOLOGY

Introduction
TEXTILES TECHNOLOGY is concerned with designing and making activities through fashion, furnishing and interior design.
Qualifications available: GCSE
Course content
The course will cover a number of areas :
- Acquisition of skills relating to both decorative and functional textiles
- The role of textiles in everyday life
- The knowledge of the production and properties of fabrics.
- Use of computer aided design and machinery together with an understanding of textile industrial practise.
How students will learn
Emphasis is placed on practical learning with students being given lots of opportunities to make textile items relating to these areas. Examples of items which could be designed and produced for coursework include fashion garments and accessories, soft furnishings, small gift ideas and theatrical costumes.

Additional Information
The course is both creative and functional and provides an excellent grounding for anyone who is considering a career in the fashion or clothing industry or who just simply enjoys working with fabric.
