Key Stage 4

Introduction

The English course will build upon the foundations established in previous years.  Students will develop their oral, reading and writing skills by tackling a widening range of assignments of increasing complexity.

 

Work will be structured to meet the demands of the GCSE syllabus and the requirements of the National Curriculum at Key Stage 4.

 

Qualifications available:    GCSE

To achieve two GCSE qualifications students must produce a minimum of five pieces of coursework showing a variety of reading and writing skills as well as participating in a range of oral activities. They will also take three final examination papers.

 

To achieve an English only qualification students must produce four pieces of coursework showing a variety of reading and writing skills as well as participating in a range of oral activities.  They will also take two final examination papers.

One question based on pre and post 1914 poetry set for study in the AQA Anthology.

 

Additional Information
