Key Stage 3 In Key Stage 3 students are taught mathematics in ability groups. Students have 3 one hour lessons each week. During their lessons students are taught a variety of topics through many different methods to cater for the different types of learners. In Year 7 students are taught calculators skills, numbers skills, large and small numbers and probability. In year 8 students build upon the skills they have learnt in year 7 expanding their mathematical understanding with topics such as Standard Form and Index Notation, expanding probability to included mutually exclusive events. In Year 9 we prepare students for their SATs tests enhancing their knowledge with topics like Pythagoras Theorem and Trigonometry. In Key Stage 3 students learn through teacher led sessions, independent learning and homework exercises. |
