Welcome to the Mathematics Department

The mathematics department is based in a purpose built block housing 6 mathematics classrooms and the departments own suite of computers.

All classrooms are equipped with data projectors and wireless graphic tablets to enable all lessons to be as enjoyable, interactive and as interesting as possible.

Students are set according to their ability soon after they start in Year 7 each class follows the National Framework for Mathematics in Key Stage 3.  In year 9 an 'Express Set' of Gifted and Talented mathematicians is formed with the intention of these students completing their maths GCSE at the end of year 10 and taking an additional Statistics GCSE in year 11.

In 2006 the Fisher Family Trust identified the mathematics department as being in the top 25% of schools* for our Key Stage 3 results.

The department also supports the students who find mathematics difficult to grasp. We are implementing a support programme in Year 7 that identifies a small group of students that would benefit the most from extra support.
