Chilton Trinity Technology College recently hosted Teenage Rampage Tour; not students out of control, but a major music event created by the Bristol Music Foundation. The aim of the event was to enable upcoming under-18s bands to tour in the South West. The bands Better In Reality, Blue Roots, Oh My God Phil, Toxic Waste Monkeys and Shoot the Moon performed to 150 eager Chilton students. The evening kicked off with Chilton’s very own band, Better in Reality. Influenced by groups like Sublime and Less Than Jake, their repertoire included a rock version of one of this summers No. 1 hits, “Umbrella” and their very own “Barcelona”. The majority of the fans were looking forward to the performance and Better In Reality certainly did not fail to deliver.
Craig Anderson, a student at Chilton Trinity Technology College and reporter for the web-based radio station Hitz Online commented about the rest of the bands:
“After Better In Reality came Blue Roots, a band from Taunton, who play uplifting, surf style funk, blues and rock. They are all in their last year at school and hope to continue making music for as long as possible. Blue Roots have also played gigs in and around Taunton, and even as far away as Italy! Next on stage came a performer who goes by the name of Oh My God Phil, his talent is by making Electronica/Emotronic music purely from two original Game Boys! Phil is also from Taunton.
Toxic Waste Monkeys of Totnes (South Devon) took center stage next and filled the room with some awesome big-riffing, catchy tunes played at their very best. Toxic Waste Monkeys said that although they were away from their normal fan zone, they were surprised at how well the audience took to them.
Shoot the Moon ended the night at around 10:30pm. The group comprises two electric guitars, a drummer, a bass guitar, trumpet, a trombone and a saxophone. The two styles of instruments mix very well and Shoot The Moon definitely use it to their advantage.”
The evening was coordinated by local impresario, Matt Bartlett.
