72% of students gained 5 or more GCSE passes at the higher A*-C grades with 71% of students gaining a C grade or higher in English Language and 86% gaining two C grades or higher in Science. Head teacher, Pat Hollinghurst, commented, "Across the ability range there are many outstanding performances and overall students have achieved very well. Their success is a credit to all the staff at both Chilton Trinity and of course, our partner Primary colleagues who laid the foundations and those lecturers who deliver courses at Bridgwater College - all of whom who have helped our students grow as learners. That they are also equipped to be responsible, thoughtful and caring members of our community is due in no small measure to the fantastic support from our parents and carers who are key partners in their development as good citizens. I am so proud of them all and look forward to them building on their successes in the future." A key measure of schools' success is the percentage of students who achieved 5+ passes at the higher grades with both English and Maths. The school is challenging a number of disappointing Maths results with the exam board, AQA, and it may well be that the number of passes at the higher grades increases following a review. Currently 39% of the year group achieved 5+GCSEs with English and Maths. When asked for her opinion, Mrs Hollinghurst said that the school was actively investigating a significant number of anomalies with regard to the Maths results to ensure that students gain the grades they deserve. Whilst as a school we don’t usually single out an individual student, special mention should be made of Michael Dobson who achieved 13 A*s and 2As. A wonderful achievement. More outstanding individual achievements to follow.
