Young Chef Competition

On Thursday 9th Dec at East Bridgwater Community School the final of the Bridgwater Rotary Club Young Chef of the Year took place. Our representatives were chosen after all Year 10 Catering Students completed a five course meal. Ella Barrett and Michael Hill were put forward as our finalists.

Michael cooked Thai Green Curry and Boozy Somerset Baked Apple. Ella cooked Roast Duck in Plum Sauce with spicy roast potatoes, carrots and green beans and for dessert Lemon and Mascarpone tart with raspberry coulis.

The cook off was filmed and broadcast live for parents and guests to watch. Both students worked extremely hard under great pressure. Chefs from Bridgwater College and SCAT were the judges and they complimented all students on their menus and skills.

The final results were announced with Michael issued as runner up and Ella as Young Chef of the Year! A fantastic result for our Food Department. Thanks to the students and their parents for their brilliant work.
