Prospectus-Careers and Further Education
Throughout the school careers guidance and preparation for further study or employment are important aspects of the Personal Health & Social Education and Citizenship programmes. There are planned activities in Years 7, 8 and 9 to help students to think about their future and option choices.
During Key Stage 4 possible careers and professions are investigated and students are encouraged to evaluate their personal strengths and qualities in the light of these requirements. The Connexions Careers and Guidance Service is closely involved in this process and organises individual interviews with students. In the Summer term of Year 10 an Industry/Key Skills day is organised for all students in that year group. During March of Year 10 students undertake a period of work experience. All placements are approved by Connexions and certificates are awarded.
The focus for post-16 education is Bridgwater College and much has been done to achieve close links with the College. There is a programme of regular contact and guidance to ensure that the transfer is smooth and appropriate. Information on other colleges in the area is freely available in the Careers section of the School Library. It is very rare for a student leaving Chilton Trinity Technology College not to secure a place in further education, employment or work based learning.
