Prospectus-Learning Resource Centre/Library

The Library is open daily from 8.40 am to 3.10 including break and lunch times.  It provides a friendly and pleasant working environment for all members of the school.  The Learning Resources Manager is always available to answer students’ questions.  There is a wide range of reference, non-fiction, fiction books and information technology available in line with the recommended quota of library stock per student.

All resources housed in the LRC are loaned on a computerized system called ‘Alice’.  This system is networked and enables a search of the LRC database to be made from any computer within the school.  No membership card is required as we use a Biometric Fingerprint Identification system for circulation.  Five computers give access to the Internet, school network, careers information and word processing.

Year 7 are introduced to the LRC through an induction scheme as part of their Key Skills Day and English lessons.  Encouragement of reading for pleasure and the development of research skills are essential criteria of LRC policy.
