Fifteen year nine students had the opportunity to take part in the “Reach Take Art” project which was held at the Victoria Community Centre and funded by the Primary Care Trust. The aim of the project was to explore students’ views on health and well-being using animation, photography and drama. During the sessions we looked at how images displayed in the media affect young peoples’ self image and how issues of bullying and being made to feel you don’t fit in can have an adverse effect on young peoples’ health. The focus of the sessions was very much student led and at the end of the ten week course they had produced some fantastic photography and animation sequences on the subject of health and happiness as seen by their age group.
