Literacy

We have high expectations of literacy throughout all lessons - be it written, spoken or read. We value literacy and as such have dedicated curriculum time to DEAR - Drop Everything And Read - our daily reading session that focusses on instilling a love of reading and developing fluency. A fluent reader can focus on comprehension and better access the curriculum, whilst an individual who enjoys reading will continue to read and enjoy a wealth of experiences through the power of the written word.

Whole Child

At Chilton trinity school we are a family. At the heart of the school is the highly successful pastoral system, enabling structured support and care for all our students and their different personal needs and challenges. Our recent OFSTED inspection noted ‘Students are proud to attend this school. They feel safe and have a trusted adult they can talk to about any concerns. Pupils say bullying is rare. If incidents occur, leaders take swift and effective action.’ Our academic system means students make good progress and know what they need to do to get better and strive for success. Chilton trinity school is an inclusive and friendly environment with the motto work hard and be kind running through the centre of all that we do. “My teachers care about me and want me to do my best.” We celebrate success, reward hard work, and recognise the individual. “i have so many happy memories of my year 7 experience “

House System

Our pastoral system works towards ensuring students are happy and healthy in mind and body. The school is divided into four smaller families (Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Neptune) to ensure all children are valued and can contribute positively. House tutor groups provide a strong and secure base for students. Tutors are the first point of guidance, help and support and act as your child’s champion. “Your tutor group become your friends very quickly”. The house championship provides healthy competition with highly competitive weekly contests promoting aspiration, success and team spirit. Contests vary from welly wanging to the Rodeo Reindeer event at Christmas. Throughout each academic year the Houses battle for points to win the hotly contested Croad trophy. Points are awarded through the weekly house events as well as student achievement points, attendance and progress scores. Students take responsibility, gain leadership and work across the year groups to have fun and gain points for their houses. The winning house is unveiled at the end of each academic year and receives the fiercely coveted reward afternoon at Chiltfest. “The competition between houses is fierce and fun”. “Our head of house is our biggest cheerleader” ” I feel so at home in my house”.
