Young Carers
What is a Young Carer?
A young carer is a child or young person who helps to look after a family member who may have:
- A physical disability
- A long-term illness
- A mental health condition
- A learning disability
- Substance misuse issues
- Additional care or support needs
Young carers often take on responsibilities at home that would normally be expected of an adult.
